Rosedale’s swamp

Should you ever find yourself in a class-war shouting match with a Rosedale resident and you call their neighbourhood a swamp you wouldn’t exactly be lying. Below the mansions perched on the edge of the Don Valley is the Binscarth Swamp, a “hardwood” wetland that expands in the spring, sometimes overtaking the trail that leads to the Brickworks. These wetlands have been restored over the last 10 years and can be found by following the trail south from the Brickworks or by heading down Milkman’s Lane from Craigleigh Gardens in Rosedale — altogether about a 15 or 20 minute walk from Castle Frank subway.
