Alexandra Park is 16 acres of public and co-operative housing in between some of Toronto’s most visited neighbourhoods — Kensington Market, Chinatown and Queen West — but it’s a psychological hole on most of our mental maps of Toronto. Largely built in an interesting 1960s modernist style, the look of the neighbourhood is space age and, though the grounds could and should be maintained better, it isn’t unpleasant. Reconnecting the area to the city around it is a complex process, but simply walking through it, instead of around it, next time you go from Kensington to Queen, can help.
