Who: Jim Galloway, artistic director for the 2008 Toronto Jazz Festival. Galloway is known as a curved saxophonist, but also owns 10 saxophones, four clarinets, an upright bass, a vibraphone and a piano. He has recorded and toured internationally and played alongside jazz veterans such as Buck Clayton. Galloway performs at the Jazz Festival on June 27 at noon as part of the free Lunchtime Concert Series at Nathan Phillips Square.

What: A two-floor home built in the 1850s that Galloway has lived in for 31 years (located near Berkeley and Shuter Streets). “I really like being in the centre of the town.”

His considerable record collection recently collapsed onto the floor. “Some of the shelving gave way and so I’ve got a front room that you can’t walk across because it’s full of LPs,” he says with a chuckle. “When the festival’s over I’ll get time to fix that up.”
